What is Hypnotherapy?

A relaxed Hypnotherapy consultation will last about 60 minutes.
All that is required is a comfortable chair and a quiet room.
Gentle music is played during the session whilst the Hypnotherapist talks to the client.
Many people say it is the most relaxing time of their day!
Hypnotherapy is a commonly misunderstood topic and sometimes confused with Stage Hypnosis - whereby people seemingly lose control.

Stage Hypnosis, performed on perhaps Television or at a social event can be an excellent way of being entertained.

BUT it is very different to Clinical Hypnotherapy, which is the technique I use.

With Clinical Hypnotherapy : -

Patients are seen in private and during a totally confidential discussion you will be able to discuss your particular situation in as much detail as you feel comfortable with.

During a Hypnotherapy consultation you will be very comfortable and remain in control at all times. The sensation is quite similar to a "daydream" and is perfectly safe with no side effects.

Hypnotherapists train over several years to become fully qualified and maintain their knowledge by continuing professional development.

Qualified Hypnotherapists are very often members of professional organisations, are highly trained and insured to practice professionally.

Let's have a look at some common misconceptions:

Misconception 1: You lose control... NOT TRUE

In fact because you are in a relaxed state your mind is free of that 24 hour a day "chatter", therefore, you are in more control of your thoughts.

Misconception 2: Morals, Beliefs and Values are compromised... NOT TRUE

In a relaxed hypnotic state you cannot be made to do anything against your will.

Misconception 3: You Go To Sleep... NOT TRUE

You may hear and remember everything that I say, although people are very relaxed.

Misconception 4: A Hypnotherapist can make you do anything... NOT TRUE

A Hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything during a consultation.

Misconception 5: Only mentally weak or sick people are hypnotizable... NOT TRUE

In fact the opposite is true. The capacity to be hypnotized is a statement of relative mental health.

Misconception 6: Hypnosis is dangerous... NOT TRUE

In fact, there is nothing dangerous about hypnosis.

If you have considered Hypnotherapy before, or if this is the first time you have thought about it, why not call me to discuss how I can help you.
